"...Trouble should have been Sharon Clark's middle name. Whenever she tried ANYTHING it turned out wrong.
Whenever she tried to act grown up, her parents said, "You're only twelve years old. You have plenty of time to grow up. You're still a child."
When she did childish things, she heard, "You're twelve years old. You should act like a young adult."
Why couldn't they make up their minds? Her parents confused Sharon and made her head ache.
"Sharon, you are daydreaming, again. Help your sister finish eating."
Her mother's voice brought her thoughts back to the dining room where the family was finishing dinner.
Sharon went back to shoveling meat into her sister’s mouth.
Sarah chewed and swallowed, “I can feed myself, Mom. Let Sharon finish her own dinner."
Sarah had been born with Cerebral Palsy caused by a lack of oxygen while being born. It was the type doctors called 'spastic'. For Sarah, this meant that she didn't have control of the muscles in her right arm and leg. After years of therapy, she was much better and could do most things herself. However, she could still only walk with a brace.
Sharon helped her older sister with a lot of things. She loved her sister deeply and didn't mind helping her."
